Answers to commonly asked Storage questions
How much space do I have in OpenReel storage?
The amount of available storage available on your account is determined in your accounts contract or SOW.
What takes up storage?
Storage is a library of all of the videos recorded with your OpenReel account. All of the videos recorded & uploaded from your account take up space in storage. The higher the resolution you record in, the more storage it will take up.
How do I free up storage?
To free up storage space, delete video files from your storage. They will permanently be deleted, if you need to access them again ensure you have them backed up outside of OR Capture 1.0.
How does my hours' usage affect my storage?
If you record footage, regardless of whether or not it is uploaded or deleted from your account, it counts towards your hours.
What types of video files are available?
For every video that is uploaded to the OpenReel Capture Platform, there are 2 different file types that are available for download: the Original File or the High Quality Transcoded File.
Original File
The original file is the raw video file that is captured from the device (iPhone, iPad, Webcam).
- Original File on iPhone/iPad is an .MOV file
- Original File on Webcam is a .webm file
High-Quality Transcoded Files
Transcoding is the process that converts a video file from one format to another. If requested, OpenReel will create an mp4 file from your original file.
OpenReel does not automatically create an mp4 version of the original file. This file can be obtained by clicking the “Request mp4 file” button. The original file will be transcoded into an mp4 version. The file is available for download when the status reads “Ready”.
