Use the Teleprompter tool to build and send the script to your Subject’s device
Launch Teleprompter
Click on the red up arrow to access the Teleprompter tool.
Now a pop up box will appear - showcasing the Teleprompter tool.
Prepare Script
Prepare Script
Title your script on the ‘Title’ line above the Teleprompter script box.
Write or Copy/Paste your script into the script box.
NOTE: The copied format of the script will not transfer over to the script box. You will need to reformat the script according to your preference. See our Tips and Tricks article for additional insights.
Adjust the font size to at least 36. This will help the Subject more easily read the script on their device’s screen.
NOTE: The Director won’t see the font size change of the script in the editing box but the Subject will see this change on their device’s screen.
Navigate to the row of blue icons above your script box; this will be your main hub to operate the Teleprompter.
Click the ‘Save and Send’ button to save the script on OpenReel and to send the script to the Subject’s phone.
Adjust Script Speed: Click on the 4th icon from the right side of the blue row to adjust the speed of the script. Slide to the left for a slower speed and right for a faster speed.
Play the Script
Click on the third icon from the left side of the blue row. The Subject will start to see a countdown before the script starts to play on their screen
When using the Teleprompter, the Director has the ability to see either the Subject or the Teleprompter. In order to toggle between the Subject’s feed and the Script feed shown on the Subject’s screen, click on the second icon from the right side of the blue row.
Note: This feature does not work with Webcam Subjects.
Edit the Script
Any time you edit the script, you must click "Save & Send", then click on the "Restart" button from the blue row of icons.
Position the Script on the Subject’s Screen
You may want to adjust how the Teleprompter is positioned on the Subject’s screen. For example, if the Subject’s camera is on the left side of their phone, you may want to align the text to the left so the Subject’s eyes are closer to the camera while reading. You can do so in the Teleprompter editor with the alignment icon, pictured below.
To achieve the best possible eye line from your subject in footage, take note of which side of their screen the camera is on and align the text to the same side.
Send Content Position
The Send Content Position feature allows you to start the teleprompter from a specific section within the script. Place your cursor in the desired script location within the script box, and then select the paper airplane icon seen below. This happens in real time, so you do not need to select Save and Send.
Note: This feature does not work with Webcam Subjects.
Toggle the Teleprompter Off for the Subject
When using the teleprompter, the subject will see the teleprompter full screen and can no longer see the video feed of themselves. To allow the subject to see themselves again, click on the icon below:
