Battery consumption while recording on a mobile device will vary depending on the age of the device, overall battery health, and the resolution in which the video is being recorded.
We recommend that the Subject force quit any unnecessary applications on their device prior to the shoot, to dedicate the phone’s processing power to the OpenReel Capture app.
Ensure the Subject’s device has a full charge prior to beginning your shoot. If the battery is low and if time permits, pause your shoot and ask the Subject to charge their phone before starting or resuming. If time does not permit for pausing the shoot to charge the device, save uploading of the video files for the end of the shoot. After you’ve recorded all of your videos, have the Subject connect the device to power and begin uploading.
We do not recommend charging the device while recording. Charging while recording may overheat the phone and compromise the video shoot experience (audio, picture, etc...)
If using AirPods, ensure that they are fully charged. If the AirPods are disconnected, the Director gets a notification and the recording will stop automatically.
