Prior to Shoot Checklist
1. Create a Project.
2. Create a Session for your shoot, inviting Collaborators and/or Subjects.
3. Optimize your computer.
4. Send the Subject a prep sheet to optimize their device.
Pro Tip: Prior to your video shoot, it may be a GREAT idea to schedule a 10-minute phone call with the Subject to go over the things they can do to prepare for the shoot ahead of time.
5. Find a non-echoey location with minimal background noise, and natural and/or adjustable light.
Pro Tip: You want to avoid having windows behind the Subject when filming!
Day of Shoot Checklist
1. Enter the Session.
2. Confirm that the Subject is ready to film and has…
- Closed all other apps on their computer
- Updated their browser and closed other tabs
- Connected any external audio accessories (mics, headphones)
- Followed all of the tips and suggestions on the Subject Prep list.
3. Subject enters the Session. You should now...
- Confirm Subject’s upload speed is >3Mb/s
- If the connection is slow, check to ensure they are connected to WiFi
4. Frame the shot and adjust the camera resolution.
5. Test Record by recording and uploading a 30-60 second test video to verify that everything looks and sounds as expected.
NOTE: You will only see the streaming quality from the device during recording, so uploading and previewing the test recording ensures that all settings and creative components are set up correctly.
6. Load and prepare Teleprompter, if necessary.
7. Record footage.
Pro Tip: Optimize webcam recordings and uploads with shorter segments. Stop recording at natural pauses and start a new recording; the video files will upload during the shoot. Of course, if your Subject's computer is properly optimized beforehand, you do not need to limit your recordings.
8. Wait for footage to upload.
Remember: Webcam uploads begin immediately when you stop recording. The Subject must *not* exit or close the browser. They must remain in the browser tab until all uploads have completed.
9. Download and/or share footage.
10. Close the browser to end the Session.
