Update your browser, clear the cache, and close all tabs to ensure a smooth operating experience
OpenReel requires the use of either Chrome or Firefox when joining a Session via Webcam as a Director, Collaborator, or Subject.
We recommend closing all other tabs or browser windows, leaving open just the browser window with OpenReel for maximum efficiency and the smoothest operating experience. We also recommend updating your browser and clearing the browser cache prior to any Session. See below for details on how to do that!
Update Your Browser
Updating your browser improves the features and overall experience of your video shoot, we highly recommend all users (both Directors and webcam Subjects) update their browsers prior to every video shoot.
Google Chrome
- Click the 3 vertical dots in the top right corner, then click 'Settings'
2. Click 'About Chrome' on the left sided menu
3. Check the middle of the page to see if there are any updates.
- TIP- Make sure you relaunch the browser if you have to update it!
FireFox
- Click the menu option in the top right corner, then you want to click 'Preferences'
2. Stay on the 'General' tab and scroll down to the 'Firefox Updates' section.
3. You can then press 'Check for updates' and this will run a test to see if you need to update your browser.
Clear Your Cache
Google Chrome
- Click the 3 vertical dots in the top right corner, then click 'Settings'
2. Scroll down to 'Privacy and Security'
3. Click 'Clear Browsing History'
Then follow the prompts below:
- Select "Advanced"
- Select "All Time" from the drop down
3. Check all boxes
4. Press "Clear Data"
On FireFox
- Click the menu button (3 horizontal lines in the top right) and select preferences
2. Press the 'Privacy & Security' on the menu on the left
3. Then click 'Clear Data' under the Cookies and Site Data menu
4. Then you will check off the 'Cached Web Content' and then click 'Clear'
