OpenReel Capture is available via Google Play to anyone using Android 8.1 or higher. Capture for Android has the same powerful controls as its iOS counterpart.  It is also compatible with external devices like your favorite TRRS Capture-compatible mics, wireless mics and ear buds, and USB-C mics.

With over 9,800 unique Google Play certified Android devices on the market, we are unable to test compatibility with each one. Performance and footage quality will be device dependent. While you can install OpenReel Capture on any Android phone or tablet, please be aware that lower tiered, budget devices will not deliver the same results as more powerful, more expensive devices. Whenever possible, we recommend filming on high-performance phones less than five years old, such as the Google Pixel series or the Samsung Galaxy S series. 

Additional Notes about OpenReel Capture for Android

• Supports external mics and headphones, with no need to use Hold to Speak
• Supports Bluetooth devices
• All audio is recorded at 48 kHz regardless of microphone input. Note: Bluetooth mics can only sample audio at 16 kHz which is then upsampled to 48 kHz in the final video recording
