Battery consumption while recording on a mobile device will vary depending on the age of the device, overall battery health, and the resolution (i.e. 720, 1080, 4K) in which video is being recorded.
Best Practices:
- Ensure the Subject’s device has a full charge prior to beginning your shoot. If the battery is low and if time permits, pause your shoot and ask the subject to charge their phone before starting or resuming.
- If time does not permit for pausing the shoot to charge the device, save uploading of video files for the end. After you’ve recorded all of your videos, have the subject connect the device to power and begin uploading.
- It is not recommended to charge the device while recording. Charging while recording will overexert the phone and compromise the video shoot experience. Charging the device while recording can also affect the audio recording, often resulting in a low, consistent humming sound in recorded files.
- It is recommended for the subject to force quit any unnecessary applications on their device prior to the shoot, to ensure as much of the phone’s processing power is available for the OR Capture app.
