Storage Video File Types (1.0)

For every video that is uploaded to the OpenReel Capture Platform there are 2 different file types that are available for download:

The Original File is the raw video file that is captured from the device (iPhone, iPad, Webcam) .

Transcoding is the process that converts a video file from one format to another. If requested OpenReel will create an mp4 file from your original file.

OpenReel does not automatically create a mp4 version of the original file. This file can be obtained by clicking the “Request mp4 file” button. The original file will be transcoded into an mp4 version. The file is available for download when the status reads “Ready”.
