Communicate Shot Framing Basics to Your Subject
CAMERA POSITION & LIGHTING
HEIGHT & DISTANCE
Communicate to your subject that the phone's camera should be at or just above eye level and 3 - 4 feet away from them. Once they have this set up, the director will need to make only small tweaks.
LIGHTING & WINDOWS
Let your subject know that they should use the light source to light their face. The light source should not be shining on the back of their head, this will cause your subject to be backlit.
IN-APP CONTROLS
Once your subject has the correct camera height & distance and the lighting is optimal, use OpenReel's in-app indicators to help position them exactly where you want them.
RULE-OF-THIRDS GRID
Both the director and the subject see the rule of thirds grid on their viewfinders.
Use this grid as a reference when positioning your subject in the frame.
